Called the "South American sleeping sickness", neem extracs reven the deadly chagas disease by preventing the parasite that causes in from surviving in its host, the biting "kissing bug". A single dose of azadirachtin given to the "kissing bug" provide permanet resitant to the parasite T.cruzi, thereby preventing transmition to humans. By inoculating the "kissing bugs" again infection by the parasite instead of simple poisoning the host, a buildup of resistanis reduced. Neem leaf or seed extracs sprayed throughout the home where the kissing bug lives eliminate the parasite and prevents the kissing bug from laying eggs. Drinking neem teas may also prevent infection by transferring neem extrac to the bug as they take blood.
