During the past 10 years the Indonesian archipelago has been through major environmental and social transformations. Concerns grow about the sustainability of standard modern farming techniques as the ongoing use of heavy chemical pesticides and fertilizers shows signs of serious crop and soil damage.

A group of innovative entrepreneurs aware of Indonesia's plight joined together to form PT Intaran Indonesia a corporate body that would work together to develop long term solutions to Indonesia's growing environmental and community needs.

Based on 7 years of intensive research, PT Intaran Indonesia recognized the Neem tree as a genuine solution to the undesirable affects of chemical pesticide and fertilizer use in Indonesia. Plans began to plant Neem in some of Indonesia's most arid areas.

Working together with local community leaders, culturally appropriate and ethically sound working strategies were developed. As PT Intaran came to understand the various needs of the small communities within which the project's success would be based, new strategies and elements emerged that would enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the project's implementation.

Always prioritizing the initial vision of environmental sustainability for Indonesia, the project's outline includes the regeneration of ecosystems in harvesting & forestry areas, and the use of NEEM pesticide and fertilizer as the superior product to chemical alternatives.
